It's your journey, not theirs.

It's 2 AM and I'm up. My headphones are on, and I'm listening to "Higher" by Tems. It's a beautiful song by the way. Trust me, it's only the reason I'm up by this time writing.

It's amusing that I have a deadline to submit some work by the month's end, but here I am, anyway.

These days, I'm drawn to staying up late and listening to music. I like these nights. They're cold, very calm, very ALONE, very demure, hehe.
If I had a chance to wish away the day, I think I would, tbh. The funny thing is I'm a people person. I just appreciate the night. I think it's one of the most beautiful things in existence.

Alright, let's get back to the purpose of this blog post.
I was watching one of Korty's videos where she featured Tems on YouTube. In this episode, Tems spoke about herself. She spoke about how she shielded herself from the world because, apparently, she was not enough; she wasn't what the world expected of her.

Fun fact: Tems studied Economics at Monash University, Johannesburg.

She finished college and worked a job as a Digital Marketer for some time.
At some point during the job, she got demoted in her workplace.
She was tired, she didn't feel enough, and she was angry- with herself and the world. The only thing that kept her alive was her music.
Fast forward, and now Tems is a big name in the music industry. From bagging a Grammy Award to becoming the first African singer to receive a Billboard Women in Music award, she's HER.
She's one of my favorite artists, though. Yeah, she's beautiful and all that, but that's not the only reason I like her lol. Her songs have a deep, personal meaning to me. Some people don't get her music, and it's fine. Not everyone has to like you for who you are or what you do.

That's the whole point of this mail.

Sometimes, it's easy to feel your inclinations and your personal goals don't matter, but they do. You might feel you have a lot of expectations, people to impress, and obligations to fulfill. But sometimes you have to ask yourself, do I find joy and fulfillment in this?
So what if you like Fuji music in BIG 2024? What if you're drawn to poetry and art?
So what if people call you weird for liking the things you like or doing the things you do?
Do your thing, bro. Don't try to fit in with the crowd. Truth is tbh, you can never be enough for this world.
At some point in history, programming and tech were for nerds. Now look, almost everyone is now into it.
You should know that even though you might not always be enough for the world, YOU ARE ENOUGH FOR YOURSELF.

It's very easy to get lost in doing what the world demands of you. It's pretty hard to come out of it, too, but it's all worth it.
Stop trying to follow the path set in stone for you.
Follow your own path. If it's not there, forge it.
As long as you'll find fulfillment.
You should reflect on this.
